The Seychelles Archipelago consists of 115 islands. It is located between 4 and 10 degree south of the equator, approximately 1000 kilometers off the west coast of Africa.
41 of the 115 tropical Islands form the oldest mid- oceanic granite islands on earth, a further 74 are coral atolls and reef islands.
The climate in Seychelles is always pleasantly warm with temperatures ranging between 24 and 32 degrees.
All but the remotest southern islands lie comfortably outside the cyclone belt.
Therefore Seychelles is never affected by severe or destructive weather conditions The first settlement on the islands can be dated back to 1770 which makes Seychelles a comparatively young nation.
